Racism and the Election

This world is full of ignorant people. Disrespectful, ungrateful and hateful people. You learn people's true colors when we are faced with new challenges and changes and the people in this country have really been completely disrespectful to our president. It is disgusting!! It is sickening!! I fully intend to have my black behind whose descendants are probably from Africa, at the polls on November sixth exercising my right to vote because someone was brutalized for me to have the right to do so!!! Not because my president is partially African American!!! Because he's the right candidate!!! Period!!!

The stuff I've been seeing from those who have been using social media outlets is horrific.  I think it's one thing to say how you feel but it's another to completely abuse the 1st Amendment right of free speech.  It's so true that here are people who do not care for other races or just are completely closed off from the world.  I get that.  But it isn't right to full disrespect the office that President Obama holds by saying very racially motivated things and think that no one should say anything to you.  Seriously??  Should you be able to honestly insult people and feel within your right?!?!  It makes me sad that that is the world we live in.

So what are our children being taught about everyone having a fair chance in this country?  Are we teaching them that the relevance of the Presidency is only valid if the person in that position is white?  Does it mean that they don't get the option of having respect from their fellow citizens because of the color of their skin?  Are we really that far gone from racism just because we can go to school with white people or live in their neighborhoods or work with them?  Why do they tell us to get over racism but then we see the ignorance that we are still plauged with?  There are still people talking about "send them back to Africa".  Seriously?  If I'm not mistaken, we weren't brought here of our own free will.  Nor are we from African.  I think this stuff, no matter how much it is addressed, is still a very out of control issue that has not gone away.

What do we do about that!?!?  I could go on and on and on with my views but I feel that it only upsets me to see that we've come so far as African Americans, but yet we are still so far away.  Unfortunate.
